An older spray sprinkler system was throwing water over the surface, with the waste and runoff that comes with it. We converted it to drip irrigation, so the water now goes in at the roots.
We installed a Wi-Fi smart controller so the homeowner can run their irrigation from their phone: change the schedule, check a zone, or pause it for rain without stepping outside. We have put these in on several local properties.
Livermore is split between two water providers: Livermore Municipal Water, which serves the northern and eastern parts of the city, and California Water Service (Cal Water). The City of Livermore has an address lookup on its Livermore Municipal Water page if you are not sure which one serves your home. Both get water from Zone 7 Water Agency, and Cal Water also pumps local groundwater from its own wells.
Out in the South Livermore Valley, Zone 7 delivers untreated water directly for agricultural irrigation, mainly to the valley's vineyards. Vines and olive trees need deep, infrequent watering at the roots, which is why a lawn-style schedule rarely suits them.
Watering rules depend on your provider. Livermore Municipal Water's watering limits only apply once the city declares a water shortage stage. Cal Water says its customers are in its Stage 1, which prohibits outdoor watering within 48 hours of rain and requires leaks to be repaired promptly.

Livermore Municipal Water customers can apply through the Zone 7 program, though Zone 7 is currently putting new applications on a waitlist. Cal Water customers can check the rebates available for the Livermore district in Cal Water's Conservation Portal. Either way, we can install the controller.
